TL;DR

  • Trust Wallet is a cryptocurrency wallet that gives you access to the world of blockchain and decentralized finance. It’s available as a mobile app (iOS and Android) and as a desktop browser extension.

  • Trust Wallet is a multi-chain gateway to Web3 decentralized applications (DApps). You can use it to access several blockchain networks, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Solana, and more.

  • This article will guide you through the process of setting up a Trust Wallet and connecting it to the BNB Smart Chain (BSC).

Introduction

Learning how to access the BNB Smart Chain is one of the easiest ways to interact with cryptocurrencies and DeFi projects. Along with MetaMask, Trust Wallet is one of the most popular Web3 wallets, and it only takes a few minutes to set it up.

The Trust Wallet app is available for iOS and Android users. Once installed, you can easily connect your wallet to DeFi platforms and DApps, such as PancakeSwap, SushiSwap, and many others.

Trust Wallet isn’t just for BSC either. It also supports other blockchain networks, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and more. In this guide, we will use PancakeSwap as an example, but the process is pretty much the same for most DeFi platforms out there.

Installing and Setting up Trust Wallet

1. First, head to the Trust Wallet website and click the link for your desired OS. In this example, we will install the Chrome Browser Extension.

2. Install the app according to your specific device. After opening Trust Wallet, click [Create a new wallet].

3. Set a password to protect your wallet. Note that you cannot reset it later, so make sure to keep it safe.

4. Your wallet is ready to use. Click [Open wallet] to continue.

5. Before using your Trust Wallet, it’s highly recommended that you back up your Secret Phrase (also referred to as seed phrase). The Secret Phrase acts as a recovery password in case you lose access to your device or wallet. Keep a copy of it in a secure, secret place.

Click [Backup your Secret Phrase now] to continue.

6. Make sure no one is looking and click [Show] to reveal your Secret Phrase. You will be asked to type the password set in step 3.

7. Next, confirm your Secret Phrase by clicking on each word in the right order. We are showing some of our words here just to illustrate. Make sure you keep yours secret.

How to Connect Trust Wallet to BNB Smart Chain (BSC)

By default, your Trust Wallet will be connected to the Ethereum network. But in order to access the BNB Smart Chain (BSC) ecosystem and DApps, you will need to connect your wallet to the BSC network instead.

1. The first step is to find the Ethereum logo at the top of your wallet screen. Click it to switch networks.

2. Next, search for the [Smart Chain] network on the list and click it to make the change. That’s it! You are ready to explore the BSC blockchain and DApps.

Depositing BNB Into Trust Wallet

To use BNB Smart Chain (BSC), you will need some BNB to pay your transaction fees. Every time you send tokens using BSC or interact with smart contracts, you’ll have to pay some gas.

1. To use your BNB BEP-20 tokens for gas, your tokens must be sent using the BEP-20 transfer network. If you are withdrawing from Binance, make sure to choose the [BEP-20 (BSC)] option on the withdrawals page.

2. To deposit your BEP-20 BNB, open your Trust Wallet and click [Receive].

3. Next, search for BNB. You will see three different types of BNB. Make sure to select the BSC one (which is a BEP-20 token). It should be the one in the middle, with the same logo as the BSC network we selected in the previous section.

4. You should now see a QR code followed by your wallet address. To make sure you selected the correct network, check the message in yellow at the top. If it says [Send only Smart Chain (BNB) to this address], you are good to go.

5. Next, you can [Copy] and paste your wallet address into your withdrawing wallet or scan the QR code.

6. As soon as your BNB arrives, you are ready to use your Trust Wallet on the BNB Smart Chain.

Adding or Removing Tokens From Your Trust Wallet List

After installing Trust Wallet, you will have a default list of tokens and cryptocurrencies. Let’s see how you can add or remove tokens to customize your crypto wallet. For example, let’s suppose you want to add CAKE to your list to make it visible in your Trust Wallet.

1. Open your Trust Wallet and click the [Search] icon in the top right corner.

2. Search for the token you want to add to your list and click the toggle button so it turns green. In this example, we’re adding CAKE (BEP-20), which is PancakeSwap’s token on the BNB Smart Chain.

3. Done. You’ll now see CAKE on your wallet and any balance you might have.

Connecting Trust Wallet to PancakeSwap

There are a couple of ways you can connect your wallet to PancakeSwap and other DApps. You can either connect through the Trust Wallet mobile browser or on a desktop browser via the PancakeSwap website. Both offer the same functionality, so it comes down to your preference.

Connecting with the Trust Wallet browser (mobile app)

1. If you’re using the Trust Wallet DApp browser, head to the PancakeSwap website and tap the [Connect] button in the top right corner.

2. Select [Trust Wallet] to connect your wallet to PancakeSwap.

Connecting with a desktop browser

1. Head to the PancakeSwap website and click [Connect] in the top right corner.

2. Click [Trust Wallet] to start the connection process.

3. Next, double check the URL to make sure you are visiting the official PancakeSwap website and click [Connect].

4. If you have successfully connected, PancakeSwap should show you the beginning of your wallet ID in the top right corner.

Closing Thoughts

Trust Wallet is one of the most popular Web3 crypto wallets and it supports several blockchain networks and tokens. It also acts as a gateway into NFTs and the whole DeFi ecosystem. While this guide showed you how to set up and connect your Trust Wallet to BSC and PancakeSwap, you should be able to connect to other DApps and platforms by following similar steps.
